Ethan Benedek (born 1998) majored in Cinema and Photography at Ithaca College with a concentration in Still Photography. Benedek is interested in the tension between intentionality and chance. On the one hand, he has pursued projects that begin with a concept, such as documenting communities in upstate New York towns. On the other, he is interested in what happens when photographers explore their environments while letting circumstance and chance inspire the photographer’s process. One of Benedek’s current projects is examining the textures and patterns inherent in urban landscapes--a microcosm of relationships that exist in the wider world.
